So wtf ever happened to the "renowned" and "respected" "freedom fighters" that one went by the name of the IRA (Irish Republic Army)? Well, I'm seriously thinkning that they disappeared into the woods. Ya know, goin back to super old school Irish... Either that or they just flat out gave up...whihc wouldn't surprise me, seeing as how they had diddly squat for luck...

This is only my theory so dont take my word for it. I think they live among civillians ,but meet in secret.... kind of like the KKK,but thats only what I think.

well that is a viable theory because only the current members or past members (assuming it fell apart) know for sure what happened and i dont think they'll be talkin anytime soon

Yeah and I'm living with sasquatch!!!!
Dude...here's my theory...
ALIENS TOOK THEM AWAY!!! No seriously they're probably living underground, in the lower city. Then when the times right, they'll bust out with Uzis and AKs and just blow the town up. Yeah...that seems likly.
I mean can you imagine it....everyone just imagine with me for a moment...EXPLOSIONS....DEATH...CHAOS...the BLISS!!!!!!!

I believe that the're still in operation, I remember the tremendous sacrifices that were made on behalf of their organisation-I still remember the reasoning behind their plight.....It's a shame it had to go the way it did-but like all org's it takes the senseless murders of the innocent for anyone to listen & react

they are still in the very place that they have always been, part and parcel of the communities that they come from, they are not a conventional army that some of you may be thinking of, if you lived in belfast then the chances are that your next door neighbour is an ira volunteer, or your brother, sister, father or mother, or workmate, teacher etc,

Hey Liam, If you've got anymore info I'd like to hear it. I'm a bit of a freak when it comes to researching this kinda stuff what kind of info? i could point you in the direction of a few republican websites, but it can be very complicated for a beginer, republicanism is very fractured at this moment, with a number of diferent groupings all claiming to be the ira, plus there is the inla, if i can help you out in any way, i will do so

I agree with Coletti, they were among the cilvilians for a while. But now i think that they are dead. I dont think there is a IRA anymore. It started two hundred years ago when the fenian raids on canada, the became the IRA. I think that this was dead long ago.

Hey Liam-I'll take you up on that offer. Re: Paramilitary campaigns, I'm interested in South Armagh-in particular "Joseph Armagh"-I'd love to know how they structured themselves as well Cheers hiya Elle, sorry for the delay in replyin, i have been away for a couple of days, not sure what you mean by joseph armagh, originally the ira structured themselves along the lines of a conventional army, chain of command, officers, brigades etc, but soon found that this type of setup was too easy to infiltrate by the british agencies, they reformed alond the lines of cells and active service units, with each asu operating independantly, sometimes selecting there own targets from a given list, some units were set as fund raisers, for robberies and so on, others for bombings, intelligence and a number of other tasks, this is all a bit of an over simplification, i will dig out some addresses for websites of the various strands of republicanism, but should maybe warn you again that things are very fractured at the minute and there tends to be quite a lot of petty bickering and name calling, with a least four diferent groups all claiming to be the ira, there are some excellent books around as well and if you are interested i will put up the titles of them and the authors if i can remember there names, i checked for your email address but you have it hidden, i apologise for my bad spelling and grammar as well, but i am too lazy to use the spell checker

I'm a zombie, mutant, and philosopher all rolled into one.
Nah I delve into a bit of quantum physics in my spare time-I'm what you'd call a wanna-be geek. When all the geeks in school were studying I was smoking 'weed', surfing, racing cars, modelling, and just being an all-round 'cazzo'- Now, I'm trying to bring my mind up-to-date with what I missed out on
