I agree with all of that, but its a double edged sword, there has been a crackdown and turncoats, so LCN and all the syndicates were forced to expand and couldnt afford to be as selective of its members. There is a certain amount needed to run a crime syndicate, and if the members dwindle, the musle is gone, the power is gone, and would inevitably be the end. Yes i agree that there should be more selectivity, but i dont know that any of them can afford to be that selective, without compromising themselves from a different perspective. syndicate - welcome to Omerta- i like the contribution you have just made...have you thought about the writing competition?

[I personally think that by keeping non-italian members would do the families alot of good. I mean, they only need to know a limited amount of things anyhow, and by making italian only or sicilia only members to move up the costa nostra ladder. I personally cannot stand a rat, and i can see why alot of the families are wanting Italians only now a days, and that is because they can retrace their bloodlines, to know what kind of family they come from. anyhow, really i guess, iam both ways on that subject. If they stay legitimate, well non-italians would do them good. and if they go into the shadows again, well.....you can fill in the rest.Ciao!

Hahahaha, I see you guys really are interested in the mob, so I will give you the truth to most of your questions.. but before I explain, let me give you some background information on myself.. I'm a half sicilian half italian (in other words 100% italian) from Philadelphia. 4 of my uncles and grandfather are deceased, whom were mob figures for years in the tri-state/new york mob.. even seeing what happens to you from being in the real mob, not what you watch on t.v. called "the sopranos",there still is a presence of the mafia in my family nonetheless til this day...
the mob has gone weak? are they still in control? haha.. good question, but let me put it this way.. you can't ask someone if their in the mob, if their in the mob, they will tell you no, its part of the oath called omerta.. anyway, who do you think brings the drugs in the states on the northern east coast? it's all the mob, who then hand it off the african americans, mexicans, latinos, and other minorities.. the mob is now stronger then ever, you don't see much of it in the papers anymore because they've cleaned their act up.. from the beginning of when it started the idea wasnt for publicity, it was to hold down their streets and tax anyone who tried moving on their terroritory.. put it this way, there are over 1000 made guys across the united states, just becuz a few people ratted doesn't mean everyone was just like "okay, lets throw in the towel, time to quit.." you need to understand, once their in they dont get out.. people whom are 75-80 years old are still mob figures, most likely bosses at that age.. and the reason for people ratting nowadays is because of the FBI.. the mobsters trying todo each other dirty.. for instance: Ralph Natale snitched on Joey Merlino to help his own crew take down Merlino's crew.. which after ratting Ralph Natale got sent right back to jail for breakin his parol and having got caught talkin to other mob figures..
The families are now doing the dirt crimes more then ever.. they are sending their men be soldiers and white collars to clean the money for each other.. their not stupid, the whole reason for the shadows is to stay away from the spotlight and keep the money.. you get famous, you get the IRS, and you get locked up.. thats exactly what we don't want..

NostraDogo! Respect for what U have written here. It seems to be real truth. But didnt U broke the omerta by writing all this here??? I'm not a member, not yet atleast.. I use to sell drugs on mob terroritory and gained my respect as a mob associate.. to be made is a big thing, not many people get this.. you have to prove your loyalty but most likely murder, everybody who is made has murdered.. this is the only way we can distinct real gangstas from informants, ruthless, but it the only way.. this is how you become made, you start out by knowing someone in the mob, after that you start bringing them money in and doing favors for them for free.. after u prove urself somewhat u become an associate.. now.. as an associate if you continue to bring in profit, or carry out jobs without fault eventually u may be asked to join.. people go all their lives doin dirt for the mob, and never actually get made, getting made is a big promo, its not like u can just be italian and get made, its alot harder then that.. anyhow if you getmade, if your income continues to grow and help the mob prosper ull eventually get promoted to capo, which in italian means captain... you will have a crew of 5-6 guys that you control to help bring money in for the mob.. after doing your time as a capo, if ur groce adds up to somethin real good, after having paid tax years to the mob bosses, u will become boss.. do you need to be 100% italian or siclian to be a boss? the answer to this myth is no, and i know this for fact.. but you do have to have some italian in you to be a boss, i think its atleast 50%.. neway as far as non-italians in the mob, you have to be atleast 50% italian to get made, except there is a few exceptions for african americans and arabs.. (note: italians have arab blood, look it up if you don't believe me).. most african americans involved with the mob stay as associates n usually dont get made like mostly every other race including italians.. any other questions?

getting back to the idea someone had earlier about how multi-ethnic members of the mob being its weakening and reason for so many turncoat cases and such.
I need to remind everyone here that the earliest supporters of multi-ethnic mobs were two of the most notorious and most respected mafioso of all time: Al Capone and Charles "Lucky Luciano" Luciana. Luciano had the traditional Sicilian mobsters murdered (Masseria and Maranzano) because they refused to allow non-italians into their mobs. Luciano and Capone, both in strong partenships with Jews such as Meyer Lansky and Dutch Schultz, ushered in the era of multi ethnic mobs. Are you saying that these figures of mafia legend brought about the mafias recent (supposed) downfall?
PS- I'm not taking a side, being italian myself, I see advantages and dis-advantages to having 100% italian mobs. I just thought this would be interesting to bring up.
