Ten members of an extremely violent crew that roamed from New York to South Florida for the Gambino organized crime family was indicted Thursday by a Fort Lauderdale federal grand jury.
Most of the members of the group headed by reputed Gambino captain Ronald ''Ronnie One-Arm'' Trucchio are already in custody in New York on other charges.
According to the racketeering indictment, the crew is based in the Ozone Park section of Queens. Members and associates, who sometimes referred to themselves as ''The Liberty Posse'' and the ''Young Guns,'' operated throughout the New York City area and South Florida.
While failing to list specific incidents, the indictment lays out a broad swath of criminal activity dating back to 1986, including: murder, robbery, arson, extortion, kidnapping, drug dealing, witness tampering and retaliation, credit card fraud, loansharking and interstate transportation of stolen property.
Authorities said Trucchio, as the ''made'' member of the Gambino family, supervised the crew's activities, was paid tribute from its ill-gotten proceeds and represented their interests with other organized-crime members.
Trucchio, authorities said, identified potential robbery, extortion, kidnapping, assault victims and directed crew members to intimidate witnesses.
Reputed crew leaders Kevin Antinuche and Gennaro Bruno planned, organized and participated in many of the crimes, authorities said.
Some of the crimes detailed in the indictment: home invasions and armed robberies of businesses; stealing credit cards to illegally purchase consumer goods; bank robbery; illegally obtaining firearms in Florida and transporting them to New York.
They are also charged with running a massive auto theft and ''chop shop'' operation in New York City.
The indictment was unsealed this morning in Fort Lauderdale after most of the crew members were arrested in the New York City area.
In addition to Trucchio, Antinuche and Bruno, the others charged included: Edward ''Crazy Eddie'' Callegari, Robert Bucholz, Joseph Kondrotos, Darrin Sirrota, Valentino Nucci, Frank Roccaforte and Dave Prevete.
