[shadow=green,left,300]Personaly i think the old days where the best forever one well everyone in in this line of work. I say this because back then you dident have to worry about all the stuff you got to worry about no adays. You could get away with stealing a car or a truck you could exstort a hell of a lot easyer you could pribe judges police now a days its harder to do things like that and that sucks cuz now this business might as well be a a river with out any water. Now a nother idea is... Find loop holes theres a loop hole to everything u just got to find it and loop holes can make u money lots of it find a loop hole in a crime use it. But anyways the old days i would have to say was the gold rush of all mafia like orginizations. Lil Nick[/shadow]

I agree, the old timer's were really a family, they took care of one another's families while member's were in jaill. They really didn't rat on each other like the this situation was for awhile.
Sure jail times no picnic, yet, then the Italians made up a significant portion of the jail population. They had enough numbers to protect each other and take care of business too.
Presently the jails are overcome with Hispanic's and Blacks and Mexican's. They've all got respective gang's and mostly take out each other, while the white's Italian's Irish and German's just try to deal with each other and stay out of the gang's way altogeather.
The Boy's need to keep togeather while there out. Bklyn is now in the hand's of the Russian's. They have a long history of trouble, some are formenr KGB members, and quite nasty and intimidating. Fortunatly the Boys are working within the Corporate environment, legitimate business's. Thanks kindly.

[glow=blue,2,300]ahh yes, the good old days... those were the days in this thing of ours. respect and honor, the backbone of all activity. you did what you were told and didn't tell anyone, anything. yet unfortunatly as was said before, anyone will do anything to get away with something. in that sense, i guess things are a little more cutthroat, and you can't trust anyone... to go back to the way things were would be the way to be... much respect to all imprisoned and deceased.[/glow]

Too right it's nothing like the old days in the Mafia. But there's reasons for it. Think about it, after the Appalachin meeting in '57 the Mafia syndicate became public knowledge. Before that it was still quite secret and so therefore there was little the law could do. After Joe Valachis testomony in '63, the first Made guy to break Omerta, it added more pressure on law enforcement agencies to target the Mafia. Then in the '70's the RICO laws were established which were excellent weapons against organised crime. It was the first time bosses of Families could be targeted (before they were insulated by passing orders through their underboss, to the capos then to the soldiers). RICO is the racketeer influenced corrupt organisations act and it then became illigal for criminal conspiricy groups like the Mafia to even exist. This law put all the bosses of NY in jail in 1985 in the Commission case (except Castellano who was actually killed before imprisoned on the orders of Gotti).
There's more rats now because of this law, wiseguys are facing 30 years to life in the can and probably the prospect of dieing there. So a lot of them turn and testify to save their own skin.

[glow=grey,2,300]So much for honor, a lot of new mafiosi need to learn what it is to be a mafiosi. To be a rat is to be a dead man, in my opinion.[/glow]
