Excellent idea, the Godfather definately deserves a thread of it's own. Here's a special one that didn't male the final copy of the film. Apparantly it was an alternative scene to the killing of Fabrizzio (who killed his wife Appollonia in a horrific car bomb scene in Godfather I). Instead of the actual car bombing that Michael takes as revenge this was one of the deleted alternative scenes of the the sequel, this scene was going to show Michael kill Fabrizzio with a Lupara - a Sicilian shotgun.

Good idea i like this picture - because it shows how such a powerful man, can yet still be gentle... The gentleness of the cat contrasts to Vitos stabbing structure.

Wizeguy, that is an excellent picture and does Don Corleone justice. It shows exactly what you said - the contrast between his gentle side and his verocious side.
Interestly enough if you read the novel by Puzo, the Vito character actually hated dogs and cats. But it was Brandos improvisation that included the cat on to the set of the Godfather film. The genius that he is. The book by Harlon Lebo "The Godfather Legacy" is an excellent resource into this.

Every powerful man has to have a gentle spot in him , or he just wouldnt be human. I guess gentlness is something everyone thinks a mobster lacks ,but they just got to remeber all the lives mobsters spared.

"Hey Turi: it looks like you have read a lot of mafia books lol. I am looking to buy one, have you got a reccomendation or favorite."
If I was to recommend just one book into the Mafia it would have to be Donnie Brasco by Joe Pistone no doubt. I love that book. the film is good but the book is excellent and really goes into alot more. Especially Lefty's (who was Pacino in the film) and Donnies interest into Milwakee. And then also Anthony Mirra who I could only compare to Luca Brazi, which is appropriate for the Godfather thread.

[glow=grey,2,300]From "Godfather, Part II" Younger Vito before he kills Fanucci. Shows his belief that all men can be reasoned with. You have to read the fine print, it says "I'll reason with him."[/glow]
